Zach's path into structural engineering started on a construction site — not at a design desk.
While studying engineering, he interned at a local firm and worked construction on a build at Western Kentucky University. There, he saw firsthand how design decisions ripple through to the contractors and crews in the field. Design was always his passion, but understanding the construction phase quickly became his specialty.
After graduation, Zach joined Gray Construction to learn the construction industry from the inside out. Working on-site, he oversaw three major projects from groundbreaking to completion: the CAT manufacturing facility in Athens, GA; the Meijer Distribution Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI; and the Grainger Distribution Center in Bordentown, NJ.
After earning his Professional Engineer (PE) license, Zach moved to the design side and joined Lynch Mykins Structural Engineers in Norfolk, VA. There he designed and sealed a wide range of commercial, federal, education, and municipal projects.
Today, Zach serves as an Assistant Professor at Eastern Kentucky University while leading Miller Engineering Group. He brings the same combination of jobsite-tested judgment and design-desk discipline to every MEG project — and he's ready to put it to work for yours.
